ALASKA 2008 ... VI round of
Alaska, 49th U.S. state in the union back in 1959 ... means "great land" in Inuit! An area three times larger than France that we traveled all the roads with a little over 2000 miles on the odometer.
From Anchorage to Homer, Homer to Seward, Seward to Whithier of Whithier St Ellias, St. Ellias Fairbanks, Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle, the Arctic Circle to the park Denali and Denali to Anchorage the loop was complete! And the feeling of not being able to find any ... because Alaska is also visited by air (flying boats and other small gear) to go in the Bush, by sea (cruise in fjords) and also by rail ... Tain Tain Tain dwarf ... rail has been developed in the nineteenth th century to transport adventurers in search of gold ... Tain Tain Tain dwarf ... And Sylvain will tell you oh how trains are wearing their beautiful blue and yellow and equipped with sunroof to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Alaska.
With its glaciers that calve icebergs, volcanoes sculpt the lunar valleys, mountains that continue to rise towards the sky, Alaska, the landscape in perpetual becoming, is the opposite of a land . The Mount McKinley rises to 6194 meters : the highest peak in the United States and North America. Alaska is a major earthquake zone and has many active volcanoes.
0.4 inhabitants per km ², it does not meet many people! So we could test our limits by plunging Into the Wild with a 3-day trek in Denali Park. Meetings with striking a bunch of animals (bear to the whale through the orca and moose).
A grandiose territory where nature dominates man's face ... the man who still managed to mark his territory by erecting zigzag pipeline to minimize earthquake damage and height to allow the passage of animals. The main line of the pipeline runs from north to south about 1,300 miles from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez.
